Description Technical Specs

Here's a beautiful Smith & Wesson Highway Patrolman .357 Magnum Revolver. It is a double action revolver built on the N frame, more commonly known as a Model 28. This particular specimen is a dash 2 model with serial number is N265XXX, indicating it was likely manufactured mid - late 1970's. It has a pinned 4” barrel with shrouded ejector rod, a Baughman Quick Draw serrated ramp front sight, and a S&W plain blade rear sight that is adjustable for windage and elevation. The cylinder is recessed. The gun’s finish is satin blue with the top of the barrel, the edges of the frame, and the rear sight being matte finish. The gun has a color case hardened checkered hammer and serrated target trigger.

The left side of the barrel is marked :

SMITH & WESSON

The right side of the barrel is marked:

.357 CTG and HIGHWAY PATROLMAN

A large S&W logo appears on the frame’s right side. The serial number is stamped on the left side of the frame opposite the crane. The model designation 28-2 is stamped there as well. An alpha numeric assembly number and an alpha numeric three letter code are stamped opposite the frame on the inside crane surface.

The gun’s finish is excellent with the exception of very minor discoloration on the top of the right side of the rear sight strap, cylinder turn marks, and discoloration speckling in the cylinder flutes. The grips are excellent. The timing and lock-up are as expected; the bore is fine.
