Direct-Mount a Scout-Pattern Weapon Light to an M-LOK Handguard
The Cloud Defensive Torrent Inline M-LOK Light Mount provides a clean, lightweight way to attach a compatible weapon light directly to an M-LOK handguard without first installing a separate Picatinny rail section.
Exact product TOR-MLOKINLINE is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum, finished in black Type III hardcoat anodizing and weighs only 0.711 ounces.
Its inline layout is particularly useful when the goal is to keep a rifle light, uncluttered and as narrow as practical while still placing the weapon light where the support hand can reach it.
Why Use a Direct M-LOK Light Mount?
A traditional method of installing a weapon light on an M-LOK handguard is to attach a short Picatinny rail section first and then clamp the light mount to that rail.
The Torrent Inline Mount eliminates that intermediate component.
The mounting chain becomes:
- M-LOK Handguard
- Cloud Defensive Torrent Inline Mount
- Compatible Weapon Light
Using fewer components can reduce unnecessary bulk and keeps the light assembly closer to the handguard.
Scout-Pattern Weapon Light Compatibility
The Torrent Inline uses the widely adopted Scout-style light mounting interface.
Compatible light families include:
- Cloud Defensive REIN
- Cloud Defensive REIN Micro
- SureFire M300 Scout
- SureFire M600 Scout – except M600 AA
- Streamlight ProTac Rail Mount 1
- Streamlight ProTac Rail Mount 2
- Many replacement light bodies using the Scout mounting pattern
Important: The Torrent Inline Mount is not compatible with the Streamlight ProTac Rail Mount HL-X. Other Torrent mounting configurations may support the HL-X, but the exact Inline model listed here does not.
Excellent Pairing for Cloud Defensive REIN
Cloud Defensive designed the Torrent mounting system around modern rifle-mounted lights, and all generations of the REIN and REIN Micro use the standard Scout mounting profile.
The company's current REIN weapon lights continue to ship with an inline M-LOK mounting solution, which demonstrates how central this mounting arrangement remains to Cloud Defensive's rifle-light system.
Four Light Mounting Positions
The exact Torrent Inline design provides four light mounting positions with approximately 0.265" of lateral adjustment.
That adjustment allows the shooter to fine-tune the light's position around other equipment on the handguard rather than being locked into a single location.
Seven M-LOK Mounting Configurations
Cloud Defensive describes the Torrent Inline as ambidextrous, with seven total mounting solutions on a seven-sided M-LOK handguard system.
Actual available mounting positions depend on the geometry and M-LOK slot arrangement of the individual handguard.
The mount can be configured on either side of a compatible rifle, allowing left- or right-side light placement based on shooter preference and control layout.
Works Around Many IR Laser / Aiming Devices
The low-profile inline geometry also makes the mount useful on rifles carrying infrared aiming equipment.
Cloud Defensive has specifically described the Torrent Inline as working well around devices such as:
- B.E. Meyers MAWL
- L3 PEQ-15
- L3 NGAL
- Steiner DBAL
Exact clearance will depend on the handguard, light body, aiming device and mounting position.
Keeps the Light Low and Out of the Way
The Torrent Inline uses a low-profile forward-oriented design intended to avoid interfering with normal rifle manipulation.
Cloud Defensive also designed the mount so that properly positioned installations do not interfere with a front backup iron sight.
On a working rifle, that matters more than simply minimizing weight: every accessory competes for limited rail space, particularly on shorter handguards.
Do Not Cantilever the Inline Mount Off the Handguard
This is one of the most important installation details for the Torrent Inline.
Cloud Defensive specifically warns that the Inline mount should be supported by the handguard and should not be installed with part of the mount hanging forward beyond the end of the rail in a cantilevered configuration.
Cantilevering the mount reduces its supporting structure and increases the possibility of bending the mount if it receives an impact.
Cloud Defensive's current warranty guidance likewise states that damage resulting from using the Inline M-LOK mount forward of the handguard in a cantilevered manner is not covered by the mount warranty.
6061-T6 Billet Aluminum Construction
The mount is CNC machined from certified 6061-T6 billet aluminum.
That gives the Torrent enough strength for weapon-mounted use without carrying the weight of a much larger steel mounting assembly.
Type III Hardcoat Anodized
The black Torrent Inline receives a Mil-Spec Type III hardcoat anodized finish.
The hardcoat finish provides a durable surface appropriate for a component that lives on the outside of a rifle and may regularly encounter sling hardware, barricades, vehicle interiors and other equipment.
Only 0.711 Ounces
The actual mount weighs approximately 0.711 oz.
That is less than one ounce added to the rifle before the light itself is installed.
For a carbine already carrying an optic, sling, light and potentially a laser or suppressor, minimizing unnecessary accessory weight helps keep the rifle balanced and manageable.
Includes Mounting Hardware
Cloud Defensive supplies the Torrent Inline M-LOK mount with the hardware necessary to install the mount on a compatible M-LOK handguard and attach a compatible weapon light.
Weapon light is not included.
Inline vs. Offset Weapon Light Mounts
An inline mount and an offset mount solve slightly different problems.
Inline mounting is especially useful when:
- The handguard already provides a useful M-LOK surface near the desired light position
- The shooter wants a simple, direct mounting arrangement
- Minimum weight and bulk are priorities
- The light needs to coexist with a top-mounted laser or backup sight
An offset mount may be preferable when the shooter needs to move the light farther toward a 1:30 or 10:30 position or needs additional clearance around other accessories.
Ideal for a Clean Carbine Setup
The Torrent Inline is the kind of component that does not attract much attention once installed—and that is largely the point.
It removes an unnecessary rail interface, weighs less than an ounce and lets a compatible weapon light sit directly on an M-LOK handguard where it can be reached without adding excessive width to the rifle.
For an AR-15, short carbine, precision rifle or other M-LOK-equipped firearm using a Scout-pattern weapon light, the Torrent Inline is a simple way to keep the illumination package clean and functional.
