Lightweight MOE Simplicity in OD Green
The Magpul MOE Carbine Stock MAG400-ODG is a lightweight adjustable stock designed for rifles using a Mil-Spec carbine receiver extension. It improves on the basic M4 collapsible-stock concept with a cleaner cheek weld, protected adjustment lever and streamlined A-frame profile while weighing just 8.4 ounces.
This version is molded in OD Green, giving a rifle a traditional subdued field color that pairs naturally with black, FDE and other earth-tone components.
Designed for Mil-Spec Carbine Receiver Extensions
The MAG400-ODG is designed specifically for Mil-Spec-sized carbine receiver extensions.
Magpul lists the MOE Carbine Stock for AR15 / M4 platforms as well as AR10 / SR25 / M110-pattern rifles using a compatible Mil-Spec-sized carbine receiver extension.
This is not a commercial-spec stock. If the rifle uses an older or unknown receiver extension, verify the tube dimensions before ordering.
A Better Take on the Basic M4 Stock
The MOE uses Magpul's streamlined A-frame profile, which shields the adjustment lever from accidental activation while helping reduce snag points around clothing, slings, vegetation and other equipment.
The sloped comb provides more cheek-support area than a basic GI-style collapsible stock while retaining a narrow and lightweight profile.
An ambidextrous release latch allows quick length-of-pull changes, while a premium chrome-silicon lock spring provides positive engagement and long service life.
3.3 Inches of Length-of-Pull Adjustment
On a standard M4-length Mil-Spec carbine receiver extension, Magpul lists approximately:
- 10.3" LOP collapsed
- 13.6" LOP extended
- 3.3" total adjustment range
That adjustment range makes the stock useful for different shooters, clothing layers, equipment and shooting positions without replacing the stock or receiver extension.
0.30" Rubber Butt-Pad
A removable 0.30-inch rubber butt-pad provides a non-slip shoulder surface while also protecting the rear of the stock from impact.
The pad remains thin enough to preserve the compact dimensions and lightweight character of the MOE.
Sling Attachment Options
The MOE provides simple sling attachment options without adding extra hardware:
- Rear and bottom 1.25" sling loops
- Toe lanyard hole for paracord or similar attachment
- Compatible with Magpul ASAP®, ASAP® QD and other receiver-mounted sling systems
The standard MOE stock itself does not include an integral push-button QD socket.
Compatible with Magpul CTR Cheek Risers
The MOE accepts compatible Magpul CTR cheek risers where firearm geometry and charging-handle clearance allow.
On a conventional rear-charging AR15, a cheek riser may interfere with the charging handle depending on the stock position, so clearance should be verified before installation.
Only 8.4 Ounces
At just 8.4 ounces, the MOE keeps unnecessary weight off the rear of the rifle.
That makes it well suited to lightweight carbines, ranch rifles, training rifles and general-purpose AR builds where large storage compartments or precision-style stock features are unnecessary.
AR15 and Large-Frame AR Compatibility
The stock interfaces with the outside of the receiver extension, not the buffer or action spring inside it. The same MOE stock can therefore fit compatible AR15 and large-frame AR platforms using the proper Mil-Spec-sized carbine receiver extension.
That does not mean the internal recoil components are interchangeable. AR15 and AR10 / .308-pattern rifles may require different buffers and action springs even when the external receiver-extension dimensions are compatible.
OD Green for a Field-Oriented Build
OD Green is one of those colors that works particularly well on a rifle intended for field use. It breaks up an all-black build without being overly bright and pairs naturally with earth-tone slings, grips and handguards.
Because the color is molded into the stock body rather than applied as a surface coating, ordinary scratches and wear do not reveal a contrasting color underneath.
NSN-Listed MAG400 Variant
The MAG400-ODG is one of the MOE Carbine Stock variants for which Magpul publishes a National Stock Number: NSN 1005-01-591-6097.
That does not change the civilian function of the stock, but it is a legitimate identifying specification for this exact OD Green variant.
