The Meprolight MEPRO RDS 56860004 is a rugged electro-optical red dot sight built for fast both-eyes-open shooting on rifles, carbines, shotguns, and other compatible firearms with a Picatinny rail. It features a large display window, a simple red dot aiming point, an integral MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny mount, and power from a common AA battery.

The MEPRO RDS is designed around fast target acquisition and practical field use. The wide viewing window helps the shooter maintain situational awareness, while the unlimited eye relief and 1x magnification make it easy to run with both eyes open at close to medium distances.

2 MOA Red Dot: Meprolight’s current specifications list the MEPRO RDS with a 2.0 MOA red dot. Some older references describe the original RDS as 1.8 MOA, but 2 MOA is the cleaner current spec to use for this page.

AA Battery Power: The MEPRO RDS uses a single standard AA battery, making field replacement simple without relying on less common specialty batteries. Meprolight states the sight provides thousands of operating hours from one AA battery.

Auto Shut-Off / Auto Power-Resume: The MEPRO RDS includes an energy-saving motion-based system that shuts the optic off when not in use and automatically resumes power when motion is detected. This helps preserve battery life while keeping the optic ready for use.

Four Brightness Settings: The sight has 4 selectable brightness settings, including 3 daytime settings and 1 night-vision-compatible setting for use with GEN II and GEN III night vision devices.
