Twelve Complete Ready-to-Eat Meals in One Case
The XMRE 1300XT is a case of twelve individually packaged, high-calorie ready-to-eat meals intended for emergency preparedness, field work, camping, hunting camps, storm response and other situations where normal refrigeration or cooking equipment may not be available.
Each meal provides approximately 1,200 to 1,500 calories and includes a fully cooked entrée, bread or cracker item, beverage mix, multiple snack or side components, an accessory package and its own flameless ration heater. The case contains six menu varieties, giving the user more variety than a case built around one repeated entrée.
Because the meals are individually packaged, the case can be divided among family members, vehicles, emergency kits, hunting camps or work crews without opening or disturbing the remaining rations.
Fully Cooked—Not Freeze-Dried
XMRE 1300XT meals are fully cooked and may be eaten directly from their sealed food pouches. The food does not require refrigeration, boiling or water for reconstitution. This is an important distinction from freeze-dried emergency meals, which generally require a separate supply of hot water before they can be eaten as intended.
The entrée may be eaten at room temperature when heating is not practical. Water is still required when preparing the included beverage mixes and when activating the flameless ration heater.
This makes the 1300XT useful during power outages, severe weather, remote travel or field operations where the ability to boil water cannot be assumed. It also reduces the amount of cookware, fuel and cleanup required to provide a substantial meal.
Approximately 1,200–1,500 Calories per Meal
Each 1300XT ration is built as a calorie-dense meal rather than a single entrée pouch. In addition to the main entrée, individual meals contain a combination of bread, crackers, rice, fruit, snack mixes, cookies, bars, spreads, side dishes and beverage powder.
Actual calories, ingredients, nutrition information and allergens vary by menu. Review the individual component labels before consumption, particularly when purchasing for someone with food allergies or dietary restrictions.
Current Six-Menu Assortment
XMRE's current manufacturer-listed 1300XT assortment includes the following six menu combinations. Components and menu distribution may change between production lots according to availability, so the markings and contents of the case received are controlling.
- Italian Sausage: Italian sausage, Santa Fe rice, barbecue toasted corn kernels, banana chips, pilot bread and grape drink mix.
- Elbow Macaroni in Tomato Sauce: Elbow macaroni, barbecue toasted corn kernels, trail mix with pretzels, banana chips, applesauce and grape drink mix.
- Chicken Chunks: Chicken chunks, vegetable cracker, Santa Fe rice, barbecue toasted corn kernels, jelly, banana chips and grape drink mix.
- Meatballs with Marinara Sauce: Meatballs with marinara, mini chocolate-chip cookies, vegetable cracker, potatoes au gratin, barbecue toasted corn kernels and lemonade drink mix.
- Hashbrowns with Bacon: Hashbrowns with bacon, cracker, mini chocolate-chip cookies, mocha First Strike bar, recovery trail mix with pretzels and lemonade drink mix.
- Vegetarian Taco Pasta: Vegetarian taco pasta, barbecue toasted corn kernels, cinnamon applesauce, pilot bread, mini chocolate-chip cookies and lemonade drink mix.
A Flameless Ration Heater in Every Meal
Each of the twelve individual meals includes a water-activated flameless ration heater. The heater warms the sealed entrée pouch without a stove, open flame or electrical power, making it useful where conventional cooking is unavailable or undesirable.
To use the heater, follow the instructions printed on its package, place the unopened entrée pouch inside and add the specified amount of water. The chemical reaction produces substantial heat and steam and normally warms the entrée in approximately 10 to 15 minutes, depending on environmental conditions and altitude.
The heater and escaping steam can become hot enough to cause burns. Keep the heater away from children, flammable material and exposed skin, and do not place the food pouch or heater directly over a flame. Allow the entrée pouch to cool enough to handle safely before opening it.
Water-Resistant, Tamper-Evident Individual Packaging
Every meal is sealed inside an XMRE XT Series outer bag designed to protect the components from routine field handling, moisture and contamination. The individual packaging helps keep the remaining meals intact when only one ration is removed from the case.
The lot and pack-date information are printed or embossed on the meal packaging and case. XMRE uses a Julian date code in which the first two digits identify the year and the final three digits identify the day of that year.
Storage Temperature Determines Useful Shelf Life
XMRE meals are shelf stable, but they are not unaffected by heat. Cool, dry storage substantially preserves flavor, texture and usable shelf life, while prolonged exposure to high temperatures accelerates deterioration.
Store the case indoors in a temperature-controlled area whenever practical. An attic, metal outbuilding or vehicle exposed to East Texas summer heat is not an appropriate long-term storage location. The printed best-by date and condition of the individual packaging should control the final decision to use a meal.
Do not consume a component from a pouch that is swollen, leaking, punctured, unsealed or otherwise damaged. Rotate stored meals periodically and use the oldest acceptable lot first.
Commercial XMRE Product—Not Government-Issued Surplus
The XMRE 1300XT is a commercially produced ready-to-eat meal assembled with military-grade components and packaging concepts. It should not be represented as a government-issued U.S. military MRE or military surplus ration.
That commercial production has practical advantages for civilian buyers: the meals are sold through normal commercial channels, the case is clearly identified by its lot and date information, and each ration includes a heater rather than relying on surplus availability or an unknown storage history.
