Moisture-Displacing Rust Protection for Firearms
Birchwood Casey Barricade Rust Protection is formulated to protect firearm metal surfaces from moisture and corrosion. The liquid penetrates the pores and small recesses in metal, drives out moisture and leaves behind a transparent protective coating that seals the surface against rust.
The 10-fluid-ounce aerosol can provides convenient coverage for exterior metal, actions, small components and other difficult-to-reach areas. The clear coating preserves the appearance of blued, stainless and other firearm metal surfaces without concealing the finish beneath an opaque residue.
Tested for Humid and Salt-Air Conditions
Birchwood Casey reports that Barricade withstands 500 hours in an ASTM humidity test and 96 hours in an ASTM salt-spray test. Those results make it particularly useful for firearms exposed to humid storage areas, coastal air, changing temperatures, perspiration or wet field conditions.
Barricade can be applied after cleaning and before storage to place a moisture-resistant protective layer between the firearm’s metal and the surrounding environment. Firearms kept in safes, cases, hunting vehicles or seasonal storage can benefit from periodic inspection and renewed protection when needed.
Transparent Protective Coating
Barricade leaves a thin, transparent film rather than a heavy visible coating. This allows it to protect the metal while maintaining the firearm’s normal appearance. The coating reaches into small surface irregularities and crevices where residual moisture can otherwise encourage corrosion.
The product is intended for firearm metal surfaces. Avoid unnecessary overspray onto ammunition, optics, wood finishes or other materials, and follow the instructions printed on the container whenever surface compatibility is uncertain.
Penetrant, Lubricant and Bore Cleaner
In addition to corrosion protection, Birchwood Casey identifies Barricade as a penetrant for loosening rusty or frozen components, a lubricant and an effective bore cleaner. These secondary functions make it useful for routine firearm maintenance as well as longer-term rust prevention.
Barricade should not replace any specialized lubricant, grease or cleaner specifically required by the firearm manufacturer. When it is used inside a bore or chamber, remove excess product and wipe the bore dry before loading or firing the firearm.
Convenient Ten-Ounce Aerosol
The aerosol format permits controlled application across larger surfaces and into recessed areas that can be difficult to reach with a cloth. Always unload the firearm, remove ammunition from the work area and use the aerosol outdoors or in a well-ventilated location away from flames, sparks and other ignition sources.
This is a flammable pressurized aerosol and requires special handling during storage and transportation. Protect the container from heat and direct sunlight, do not puncture or burn it and keep it securely stored away from children.
