Dead Air Mask HD .22-Caliber Rimfire Suppressor
The Dead Air Mask HD is a compact, heavy-duty rimfire suppressor designed to balance sound reduction, durability and straightforward owner maintenance. This black MASK22 configuration combines a 3Al-2.5V Grade 9 titanium tube with a removable stack of 17-4 PH stainless-steel baffles.
At 5.1 inches long, 1.070 inches in diameter and 6.6 ounces, the Mask adds relatively little size and weight to a compatible rimfire pistol or rifle. Dead Air’s internal baffle design is intended to provide strong sound performance with little to no first-round pop on both platforms.
User-Serviceable Titanium and Stainless Construction
Rimfire ammunition produces substantial carbon and lead residue, making serviceability an important feature in a dedicated rimfire suppressor. The Mask can be disassembled by the owner so the stainless-steel baffles can be removed and cleaned separately from the titanium tube and other components.
Dead Air recommends cleaning the suppressor approximately every 500 to 1,000 rounds to simplify the process, although actual maintenance requirements vary with ammunition and firing schedule. The included front-cap tool assists with disassembly.
Rated from .17 Rimfire Through 5.7x28mm
The Mask has a .22-caliber bore and an energy rating of 850 ft-lbs. Dead Air’s current fitment information lists compatibility with .22 LR, .22 WMR, .17 HMR, .17 WSM and 5.7x28mm, as well as .22 Hornet and .17 Hornet within the manufacturer’s published limits.
It is full-auto rated and has no manufacturer-listed barrel-length restriction. The full-auto designation does not override the suppressor’s caliber, bore-diameter or 850 ft-lb energy limits.
Simple 1/2x28 Direct-Thread Mounting
The Mask threads directly onto a compatible fixed barrel with 1/2x28 muzzle threads. Dead Air states that it can accept barrel threads as long as .6 inch, while approximately .4 inch of thread length is optimal for sound performance and baffle life.
Different rimfire and 5.7x28mm firearms may require a manufacturer-approved thread adapter or spacer. Confirm the firearm’s muzzle thread, shoulder, thread length and bore alignment before installation. The suppressor should seat squarely against a suitable barrel shoulder without binding or cross-threading.
Built for Rimfire Pistols and Rifles
The Mask is suitable for a broad range of properly threaded fixed-barrel hosts, including semiautomatic rimfire pistols, bolt-action rifles and semiautomatic rifles. Because it is a fixed-barrel direct-thread suppressor, it does not require a pistol booster when used on conventional fixed-barrel rimfire firearms.
Ammunition selection materially affects sound. Subsonic ammunition can eliminate the projectile’s supersonic crack when it remains below the speed of sound, while supersonic ammunition will continue to produce that downrange report. A suppressor does not make a firearm silent; appropriate eye and hearing protection should always be used.
