A Classic Walnut Howa Mini Action in 6mm ARC
The Howa M1500 Mini Action HWH6ARCHB combines the compact proportions of Howa’s Mini Action platform with the efficiency of the 6mm ARC cartridge. This Mini Hunter configuration features a 20-inch heavy threaded barrel, a traditional walnut stock and a matte-blue finish.
The rifle has a 5+1 capacity and includes one detachable five-round magazine. Its 39.5-inch overall length and unloaded weight of approximately 6.4 pounds create a manageable package for hunting, target shooting and general field use.
Mini Action Proportions
Howa developed the Mini Action around compact cartridges such as the 6mm ARC. The appropriately scaled receiver and bolt provide a shorter operating stroke than a conventional short-action rifle while retaining the construction and operating features associated with the Howa M1500 family.
This rifle is right-handed and uses a detachable box magazine. The included magazine is specific to the Howa Mini Action platform; AR-15 magazines are not compatible.
20-Inch Heavy Threaded Barrel
The 20-inch heavy-profile barrel provides additional barrel mass while maintaining a practical overall rifle length. Its 1:8-inch twist is appropriate for the range of 6mm ARC factory loads commonly used for hunting and target shooting.
The muzzle is factory threaded for compatible muzzle devices and suppressor mounts. The exact thread pitch is not identified in the Lipsey’s listing and should be confirmed before selecting a muzzle accessory.
Walnut Stock and Matte-Blue Finish
The walnut stock gives this Mini Action a traditional sporting-rifle appearance that distinguishes it from Howa’s synthetic and chassis-equipped configurations. Sling swivel studs provide attachment points for a compatible sling or supported shooting accessory.
The barreled action has a matte-blue finish that complements the walnut stock while reducing the glare associated with highly polished finishes.
Howa M1500 Bolt Action
The Howa M1500 design uses a machined receiver and a forged, lightened one-piece bolt with two locking lugs. An M16-style extractor and ejector support reliable extraction and ejection, while pressure-relief holes provide a route for escaping gas in the event of a pierced primer or case failure.
The bolt assembly permits tool-free firing-pin removal for routine maintenance. Howa also machines the bolt face square to the chamber and maintains controlled headspace specifications during production.
Two-Stage Trigger and Three-Position Safety
A factory two-stage match trigger provides a distinct initial stage followed by a defined break. The three-position thumb safety allows the shooter to select between fire, safe with bolt operation and safe with the bolt locked, depending on the selected position.
The rifle should always be handled and stored according to the instructions in the Howa owner’s manual, regardless of the safety position.
Ready for an Optic
The receiver is drilled and tapped for compatible scope bases. No optic, base or rings are identified as included with this model, allowing the rifle to be configured around the shooter’s preferred magnification range, mounting height and eye relief.
Confirm that the selected base is made for the Howa Mini Action receiver rather than a full-size Howa short or long action.
Who Should Choose HWH6ARCHB?
This Howa is a strong choice for someone who wants a compact 6mm ARC bolt-action rifle without moving to a synthetic stock or modern chassis. Its walnut furniture provides traditional styling, while the heavy threaded barrel supports a modern optic and muzzle-device setup.
Shooters prioritizing the lowest possible field weight may prefer a lighter-profile barrel. Buyers who want AR-magazine compatibility should also consider another platform, because the Howa Mini Action uses its own detachable magazine system.
