Q ADJUSTABLE GAS BLOCK
The Q Adjustable Gas Block is a gas-system component designed to provide adjustable gas regulation in compatible AR-pattern firearms. Its screw-controlled mechanism allows the gas block to regulate the amount of propellant gas entering the operating system, rather than using a fixed gas-port opening.
Q uses an adjustable gas-block system in its Honey Badger firearm platform. The design incorporates a separate locking jam nut to retain the gas adjustment setting.
ADJUSTABLE GAS REGULATION
Unlike a fixed gas block, the Q adjustable design provides a variable gas-flow setting. This allows the gas system to accommodate differences in operating conditions and ammunition characteristics within the capabilities of the firearm's complete operating system.
The adjustment mechanism provides mechanical control over gas flow, while the locking arrangement helps maintain the selected setting.
ADJUSTMENT SCREW WITH LOCKING JAM NUT
The Q gas-block design uses an internal adjustment screw and a separate jam nut. The two components serve different functions: regulating gas flow and retaining the adjustment.
Q's manufacturer documentation distinguishes this mechanism from gas blocks intended for frequent on-the-fly adjustment. The system is designed around a selected operating configuration rather than a rapid external selector.
Q HONEY BADGER GAS SYSTEM HERITAGE
The adjustable gas-block mechanism is documented in Q's Honey Badger operating system. The Honey Badger platform incorporates adjustable gas regulation to address the different operating characteristics encountered with its intended ammunition configurations.
Compatibility with a particular barrel or firearm depends on the gas-block journal dimensions and the mounting arrangement. The appropriate version and installation hardware must correspond to the manufacturer's specifications.
