Q Plan B for the Industry-Standard HUB Suppressor Interface

The Q Plan B Omega is the compact adapter that allows a compatible suppressor with the common 1.375x24 HUB rear thread to attach to Q's standard Cherry Bomb taper-mount muzzle device.

Q originally referred to this version as the "Omega" Plan B because the interface became well known through suppressors such as the SilencerCo Omega 300. Today, the same 1.375x24 thread is more commonly described as HUB or Bravo and is used by suppressors from numerous manufacturers.

That makes the Plan B Omega much more useful than its name initially suggests. It is not simply an Omega 300 accessory; it is Q's Plan B adapter for compatible suppressors using the 1.375x24 HUB mounting standard.

What the Plan B Actually Does

The mounting system has two primary components:

• Q Cherry Bomb: installed on the firearm's barrel.
• Q Plan B Omega: installed into the compatible suppressor's 1.375x24 rear mounting interface.

Once both are installed, the suppressor threads onto the Cherry Bomb through the Plan B and seats against Q's precision taper.

The system eliminates the locking collars, ratchets, springs and other moving components found in many quick-detach suppressor mounts. There is nothing for the shooter to release or manipulate beyond threading the suppressor onto or off of the muzzle device.

Why a Taper Mount?

The Cherry Bomb and Plan B use a precision taper ahead of the threads as the primary seating surface. As the suppressor is tightened, the mating tapers draw together and create a broad, rigid contact surface.

The taper performs several useful functions. It helps center the suppressor on the muzzle device, produces consistent lockup and places the sealing surface ahead of the threads. That forward sealing surface helps reduce the amount of carbon and combustion residue reaching the mounting threads.

The result is an extremely simple suppressor mounting system without a separate mechanical locking mechanism.

1.375x24 HUB / Bravo Compatibility

The suppressor side of the Plan B Omega uses the industry-standard 1.375x24 thread commonly known as HUB, Bravo, Omega or ASR-pattern rear threading.

Examples of suppressor families that have used this interface include the SilencerCo Omega 300 and Hybrid 46, Dead Air Nomad series, Energetic Armament VOX and numerous current HUB-compatible suppressors.

Thread compatibility alone does not guarantee complete fitment. The suppressor must also provide sufficient internal clearance for the muzzle device protruding through the Plan B and into the blast chamber. Always verify both the rear thread specification and internal muzzle-device clearance for the exact suppressor being used.

Standard Plan B Versus Omega XL

This is the standard Plan B Omega. It is intended for standard Q Cherry Bomb / Plan B muzzle devices.

It should not be confused with Q's Plan B Omega XL, which provides additional internal length for larger or longer muzzle devices such as the Cherry Bomb XL used with certain 8.6 Blackout configurations.

If the host uses a Cherry Bomb XL, the standard PLAN-B-OMEGA is not the correct adapter. Use the appropriate Omega XL configuration instead.

No Timing, Shims or Crush Washers

One of the advantages of Q's Cherry Bomb system is that the muzzle device does not require timing. There is no need to rotate ports to a specific clock position, so properly installed Cherry Bombs do not require conventional timing shims.

Q specifically instructs users not to install the Cherry Bomb with washers, shims or jam nuts because those components can interfere with alignment. Q's published Cherry Bomb instructions call for clean, degreased barrel threads, Rocksett on the barrel threads and approximately 20–30 ft-lb of installation torque.

Always follow the current Q instructions supplied with the specific muzzle device and mount being installed.

Compact Mounting Without a Locking Collar

Plan B is particularly attractive to shooters trying to keep the overall suppressor system compact. The adapter replaces larger quick-detach assemblies with a relatively simple threaded and tapered interface.

That can reduce unnecessary mounting-system length and weight while still allowing the suppressor to be removed from the rifle without removing the muzzle device from the barrel.

For a rifle that will use a Cherry Bomb as its permanent muzzle device, the Plan B provides a clean way to move a compatible HUB suppressor between similarly equipped hosts.

Heat-Treated 17-4 Stainless Construction

The Plan B Omega is machined from heat-treated 17-4 stainless steel for the strength and temperature resistance required at the rear of a centerfire suppressor.

The natural heat-treated finish can display variations in silver, bronze, gold or darker coloration. That appearance is normal for this type of component and should not be confused with a conventional painted or matte-black coating.

Check the Complete System Before Firing

Suppressor mounting requires more than confirming that two sets of threads screw together. Verify that the barrel threads, muzzle device, Plan B adapter and suppressor are all compatible with one another and appropriate for the firearm and cartridge.

After installation, verify that the suppressor is completely seated and properly aligned with the bore before firing. Any questionable barrel-thread concentricity, muzzle shoulder geometry or suppressor alignment should be evaluated before live ammunition is used.
