The Real Avid Bore Boss® for 20 gauge shotguns is a compact pull-through cleaning system designed for the shotgun that actually leaves the safe. Whether carried for upland hunting, turkey season, clay shooting or general field use, a shotgun can collect powder residue, moisture and debris when a full cleaning bench is nowhere nearby.
The Bore Boss provides a quick way to clear the bore after a day in the field or at the range without carrying a sectional rod, loose brushes and a collection of small attachments. Its complete cleaning cable wraps inside a protective Flex-Case handle, keeping the system organized and ready to use when routine maintenance should not be postponed.
A Bronze Brush Followed by a Full-Length Cleaning Mop
The single-piece Dual-Action Cable combines two cleaning surfaces in one continuous pull. An integrated phosphor-bronze brush first works against the bore to loosen powder residue and accumulated fouling. A 10-inch braided mop follows behind the brush, sweeping loosened material through and out of the barrel.
The 32-inch cable provides the length needed for common sporting, hunting and defensive shotgun barrels. Because the brush and mop are permanently integrated into the cable, there are no threaded fittings to loosen, separate adapters to lose or cleaning sections to assemble before use.
The Case Becomes the Pulling Handle
Real Avid's Flex-Case is more than a storage container. After the weighted cable has been fed through the unloaded shotgun's bore, the cable clips back into the case. The case then becomes a broad, ergonomic handle that provides a firm grip and distributes the pulling force across the hand.
Once cleaning is complete, the cable wraps back inside the case. This protects the brush and mop from dirt and damage while helping keep fouling, oil and cleaning residue away from ammunition, clothing and the rest of the equipment inside a range bag or hunting pack.
Built for Field Maintenance, Not Just the Workbench
The Bore Boss is particularly useful after shooting in wet, dusty or humid conditions, when leaving residue and moisture inside the bore until the next full cleaning may not be the best choice. Its self-contained design is small enough to remain with the shotgun gear instead of being left behind with the larger cleaning kit.
It does not replace every maintenance operation that may eventually require a chamber brush, detailed disassembly or conventional cleaning rod. Its advantage is that it makes regular bore maintenance fast and convenient enough to perform at the range, in camp or immediately after returning from the field.
This AVBB20G model is sized specifically for 20 gauge shotgun bores. Before cleaning, completely unload the shotgun, remove all ammunition from the work area and verify that the chamber and magazine are empty.
