A Matched Wilson Combat Foundation for an AR-15 Build
The Wilson Combat TR-LOWUPP-ATB is a matched forged upper and lower receiver set for an AR-15 build. Both receivers are precision machined from high-grade 7075-T6 aluminum forgings and supplied together to provide a properly paired foundation for the rest of the rifle.
This is the traditional forged configuration rather than Wilson Combat’s substantially different billet receiver set. The lower uses conventional mil-spec architecture with a separate trigger-guard opening, while the upper follows the familiar forged AR-15 pattern.
Forged 7075-T6 Aluminum Construction
Wilson Combat machines the upper and lower from 7075-T6 aluminum forgings. Forged construction maintains the familiar dimensions, component compatibility and appearance of the conventional AR-15 while providing a strong foundation for a duty, hunting, defensive or general-purpose rifle.
Because this is a stripped receiver set, the buyer can select the barrel, bolt carrier group, trigger, lower-parts components, buffer system, furniture and other parts appropriate for the intended configuration.
Matched Upper and Lower Receivers
The two receivers are supplied as a matched set instead of being sourced separately. This gives the builder a coordinated upper and lower with a consistent manufacturer, receiver pattern and exterior finish.
Some movement between AR-15 upper and lower receivers can be normal and is not necessarily an indication of improper function. Final fit can also be affected by takedown pins, internal components and manufacturing tolerances.
Black Armor-Tuff Finish
Wilson Combat identifies the receivers as having a mil-spec Type III hardcoat black anodized finish together with its black Armor-Tuff applied finish. Armor-Tuff gives the matched set a uniform, subdued black appearance while adding another protective exterior coating.
Minor surface variations, small forging marks or shallow pitting can occur naturally in forged receivers. Wilson Combat specifically notes that these cosmetic characteristics do not affect function.
M4-Style Feed Ramps
The forged upper incorporates M4-style feed ramps. When combined with a compatible M4-extension barrel, the ramp geometry provides a continuous transition between the upper receiver and barrel extension.
The selected barrel extension, bolt, bolt carrier group and ammunition must all be appropriate for the cartridge being assembled. The receiver’s multi-caliber marking does not make every AR-15 component or caliber interchangeable.
Mil-Spec AR-15 Parts Compatibility
Wilson Combat states that the receiver set accepts mil-spec AR-15 parts. The forged lower is designed around standard AR-15 lower-parts components, while the upper provides the conventional forward-assist configuration and receiver geometry expected by most AR-15 builders.
This version does not have Wilson Combat’s integral closed trigger guard. A compatible separate trigger guard and the necessary trigger-guard hardware must be selected as part of the lower-receiver completion components.
What Is Included?
The package includes one matched forged AR-15 upper receiver and one serialized forged AR-15 lower receiver. This is not a complete, ready-to-fire rifle and does not include the barrel assembly, handguard, bolt carrier group, charging handle, lower-parts group, trigger, pistol grip, buffer system, stock or brace, magazine, sights, optic or ammunition unless specifically stated otherwise by Huckleberry Arms.
Because the set contains a serialized lower receiver, the complete receiver set must be shipped to a federally licensed firearms dealer for transfer.
Who Should Choose TR-LOWUPP-ATB?
This set is intended for the builder who wants a conventional forged AR-15 receiver pattern with Wilson Combat machining and a matched black exterior finish. It is particularly suitable for someone who wants broad mil-spec component compatibility without the added dimensions, styling or cost of a billet receiver set.
Someone looking for an integral trigger guard, oversized billet controls or other billet-specific features should consider Wilson Combat’s billet or closed-trigger-guard receiver configurations instead.
