Lancer L5AWM Gen 2 in Translucent Smoke
The Lancer L5AWM Gen 2 is a 30-round hybrid magazine designed for modern rifles chambered in .223 Remington and 5.56x45mm NATO. Model L5-G2-30-SMK combines a proprietary polymer body with precision-engineered hardened-steel feed lips and a subdued Translucent Smoke finish.
The smoke-tinted body provides a direct visual indication of the ammunition inside while maintaining a darker appearance than a clear magazine. Molded round markers provide additional reference points during loading, storage and range use.
Redesigned Hardened-Steel Feed Lips
The Gen 2 feed-lip assembly uses revised hardened-steel geometry designed to improve cartridge stacking, round presentation, retention and feeding reliability. The steel construction resists the wear, spreading, cracking and deformation that can affect conventional polymer feed lips during heavy use, temperature cycling or extended loaded storage.
Lancer reports that the updated geometry reduces the force required to seat a loaded magazine against a closed bolt by as much as 22 percent. This can make administrative loading and closed-bolt reloads easier while preserving the durability of the steel-and-polymer construction.
Proprietary Polymer Body and Gen 2 Floorplate Lock
The impact- and chemical-resistant polymer body uses aggressive exterior texturing to provide a secure grip during handling and magazine changes. Lancer tests the polymer across temperatures ranging from -40 to 180 degrees Fahrenheit.
An advanced Gen 2 floorplate-lock design helps secure the magazine assembly. Inside, an anti-tilt follower and stainless steel spring support consistent movement of the ammunition stack and dependable cartridge presentation.
Modern Rifle Compatibility
The L5AWM Gen 2 is compatible with modern rifle systems including the M4, M16, AR-15, SCAR 16 and HK416, as well as numerous compatible firearms chambered in .223 Remington or 5.56x45mm NATO. Fit and function should always be confirmed with the specific firearm before use.
Lancer also recommends this magazine for .300 Blackout ammunition weighing less than 200 grains, particularly lightweight supersonic ammunition of 150 grains or less. This remains a standard .223/5.56 magazine rather than Lancer’s dedicated .300 Blackout design. The dedicated model is the better choice for heavy subsonic ammunition and larger projectile profiles.
