Traditional Leather Support for the Springfield Armory M1A
The Springfield Armory M1A Match Sling is a traditional leather rifle sling designed for the M1A platform. Its match-style configuration provides a dependable way to carry the rifle while also supporting consistent shooting positions when the sling is properly adjusted.
This sling is constructed from brown leather and measures 1.25 inches wide. The substantial leather construction complements the military heritage and traditional styling of M1A and M14-pattern rifles without introducing the appearance of a modern synthetic tactical sling.
More Than a Carry Strap
A properly adjusted match sling can help establish a repeatable connection between the shooter and rifle during prone, seated, kneeling and other supported positions. The sling can be configured around the support arm to reduce movement and help the shooter maintain a steadier firing position.
The sling can also serve as a conventional carrying strap when moving between firing points or transporting the rifle in the field. Its adjustable leather construction allows the shooter to configure the sling according to the rifle, shooting position and personal preference.
Designed for the M1A Platform
Springfield Armory identifies CO5009 as an M1A accessory. It is intended for M1A rifles equipped with compatible sling swivels and may also fit similarly equipped M14-pattern rifles. Before installation, confirm that the rifle's swivels provide sufficient clearance for a 1.25-inch sling.
This sling is a natural choice for National Match-inspired rifles, traditional service-rifle configurations, collectible M1A builds and field rifles where classic appearance and functional shooting support are both priorities.
Leather Care and Break-In
Natural leather can feel firm when new and generally becomes more flexible as it is handled and adjusted. Keep the sling dry, remove surface dirt with a soft cloth and allow damp leather to air-dry away from direct heat. A leather-care product appropriate for firearm slings may be applied sparingly when needed.
Inspect the leather, adjustment holes, hardware and rifle attachment points before use. Replace the sling if the leather becomes deeply cracked, cut or otherwise unable to support the rifle securely.
