The Underwood 9mm Luger +P 90gr Xtreme Defender is a high-performance defensive handgun load built around a lightweight solid copper projectile, high velocity, and a non-hollow-point terminal design. This 20-round box is loaded with Underwood’s Xtreme Defender bullet, a solid monolithic copper projectile designed for self-defense use without relying on traditional hollow-point expansion.

The Xtreme Defender design uses radial flutes to redirect hydraulic energy and create a wide permanent wound channel while maintaining the structural integrity of a solid copper bullet. Underwood describes the projectile as engineered to perform through common barriers while still falling within FBI penetration guidelines.

This load is rated 9mm Luger +P, with a listed velocity of 1475 fps and muzzle energy of 435 ft-lbs. Underwood loads it in nickel-plated brass cases for improved feeding, corrosion resistance, appearance, and easier cleanup during reloading. The cartridge is also listed by Underwood as lead-free, supersonic, suppressor safe, new production, non-corrosive, boxer primed, and reloadable.

Underwood notes that aftermarket Sig P365 conversion barrels are not recommended for use with its +P and +P+ 9mm ammunition, and that its testing and validation is performed with factory Sig P365 barrels.
