Lancer L5AWM Gen 2 in Translucent Urban Dark Earth
The Lancer L5AWM Gen 2 is a 30-round hybrid magazine designed for modern rifles chambered in .223 Remington and 5.56x45mm NATO. Model L5-G2-30-TUD combines Lancer’s proprietary polymer body with redesigned hardened-steel feed lips and a distinctive Translucent Urban Dark Earth finish.
The translucent body provides a direct visual indication of the ammunition remaining in the magazine. Its Urban Dark Earth color also makes the magazine easy to distinguish from magazines assigned to other ammunition types or rifle configurations.
Redesigned Hardened-Steel Feed Lips
Gen 2 magazines use new precision-engineered hardened-steel feed-lip geometry intended to improve cartridge stacking, round presentation, retention and feeding reliability. Unlike conventional polymer feed lips, the steel assembly is designed to resist wear, cracking, spreading and deformation during sustained use, temperature changes and extended loaded storage.
Lancer reports that the revised geometry provides up to a 22% reduction in the force required to seat a loaded magazine against a closed bolt. This can make administrative loading and closed-bolt reloads easier while retaining the durability of the steel-and-polymer construction.
Updated Polymer Body and Floorplate Lock
The proprietary polymer body is impact and chemical resistant and retains Lancer’s aggressive surface texture for positive handling. Lancer tests the body across temperatures ranging from -40 to 180 degrees Fahrenheit.
An advanced Gen 2 floorplate-lock design helps secure the magazine assembly. Inside, an anti-tilt follower and stainless steel spring support consistent cartridge movement and allow the magazine to remain loaded without degrading its intended performance.
Modern Rifle Compatibility
The L5AWM Gen 2 is compatible with modern rifle systems including the M4, M16, AR-15, SCAR 16 and HK416, along with numerous .223 Remington and 5.56x45mm NATO variants. Compatibility should always be confirmed for the specific firearm before use.
Lancer also recommends the magazine for .300 Blackout ammunition weighing less than 200 grains, particularly lightweight supersonic loads of 150 grains or less. It is not the dedicated Lancer .300 Blackout-optimized magazine, so users should select the magazine that best matches their ammunition and application.
Lightweight American-Made Construction
Despite its hardened-steel feed lips, Lancer lists the L5AWM Gen 2 at only 3.8 ounces. The magazine is designed, tooled, manufactured and assembled in the United States.
